The Urban Scholars program will continue to fulfill its mission to help students build their scholastic skill and prepare them for successful college careers. Our intent is to help students build the knowledge and the skillset needed to do well during their academic journeys. We ask that you regard the Urban Scholars Summer Program as a privilege, a special opportunity – a chance to develop yourself as a person and as a student. We, on the staff, will do our best to create an opportunity that will challenge each participant. It is up to each individual participant to seize this opportunity and make it work for themselves. We look forward to a summer filled with laughter, music, challenge, caring, cooperation, spirit, consideration, dancing, working, thinking, expanding brains and muscles, and when the time is right, the sounds of silence.
This summer’s courses will include STEM courses, a foreign language along with creative writing and communication classes. All courses are designed to offer participants early exposure to college CORE requirements. Most if not all, of our instructors teach at the college level or are industry professionals, but more importantly, they are committed to the task of providing you with new discoveries and a challenging curriculum. We therefore need each of our participants to recognize that they have been selected to be a part of our program because we believe in their talents and capabilities. It is therefore imperative that all our participating scholars take each class seriously, be on time, complete all assignments, actively participates and be an engaged and motivated learner. We are excited to be back in-person to deliver dynamic and engaging courses and co-curricular activities.
